The goal was to design a reusable food-contact tray that could compete with single-use alternatives in cost, safety, durability, and recyclability. A thermoformed, thermosealed tray that is safe, reusable, and recyclable has been developed. After several cycles of design, material resistance and food contact testing, a solution that is currently under validation for commercial trials by final user Dawn Meats has been achieved.
